I'm speechless. If you weren't aware of the show, the general idea is that a family from South London move into a beautiful stately home type affair in Holland Park for five or six weeks and attempt to live like aristocrats in the hope of winning £50,000 - for this they are judged by their servants, although they don't know that.
This first week, they held a dinner party for real members of the aristocracy. The 'lady' of the house (who looks like Kim Wilde's mum) sat next to Lord Sudeley, actually, actually saying "I wanted to be sat next to a Lord and 'ere I am, with my lord, and I'm lookin' after ya, ain't I?" (Lord Sudeley looked deeply unimpressed and said nothing, looking around in gloomy desperation.) "'Ere, don't look away. I would like a compliment, if you don't mind." *Argh*.
I'm really, really sorry. I'm not sure quite what I'm apologising for, or to whom, but I feel that something about this show must somehow obscurely be my fault in some way. ~s~ And just generally apologising for these idiots ("I will only eat Grape Nuts or Shredded Wheat for breakfast, none of this fancy rubbish") makes me feel a little better, at least.
