This isn't a rant. I don't have the strength for the rant, nor the facts to back me up when people try to knock it down. Damn it. But I bought Robin Of Sherwood yesterday, and although I'd seen the first three episodes before, thought I'd watch them again, because, y'know, shiny. And this, which had passed me by the first time, made me cry and cry today :
Robin: You were sleeping. You've slept too long. We all have. It's time we woke. Time we stopped running. Nobody ran at Hastings.
Tom: No, they stood and died by the thousands.
Robin: But at least they died fighting.
Will: That's an old battle to bring up. Was a long time ago.
Robin: What's happened to the English since then, Will? I mean, where are they? "Stay away from trouble." "Do as you're told and they'll leave you alone." Is this the spirit of England?
Villages destroyed so that princes can hunt unhindered. The people bled white to pay for foreign wars. No voice. No justice. No England!

Yes, I'm crying easily today. That's not the point, though.
I'm going home tomorrow, home to Sussex and the South Downs at least. At least there will be trees.
