(I've tried patience)

Why I love and hate NME...this week...

I love NME because it forewarns me about bands I'm going to want to avoid, alerts me to bands I might be interested in, provides me with amusing pictures of Fred Durst, occasionally gives me an excuse to talk to Gemma, and, this week, because it mentioned Fischerspooner and Telepopmusik, two bands I keep forgetting to look up.
I hate NME because it's unnecessarily cruel, it features SWells - surely one of the planet's most obnoxious men next to Chris Moyles, takes every opportunity to trash the music that I love, and, this week, because it has told me that Orli is going to be in Ali G's film.

Which might, possibly, mean I have to see it.

Damn you, NME. You're great.

Still in slight shock, hyperventilating a very little, and wishing she'd waited until later to check LJ. Because she has to sing tonight. And the way this is going, she's not even going to be able to *breathe*. ~g~

Since I'm online anyway...

Fischerspooner, NME.com review :
</i>Living in a magazine? Darling, isn't everyone? Manhattanites Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner are so suffocatingly cool they should have a loft space between their ears - yet their shameless '80s posing is spiked with enough wit to excuse their fashionista excesses. Irresistible electro hit 'Emerge' deftly pursues their goal of 'indulgent fun'. Kicking in like New Order's 'Blue Monday' on a Friday night, it rampages through a smoke-and-mirrors circuitscape of drunk designers and chrome surfaces intoning the mantra "sounds good, looks good, feels good". It's a bit Chloe Sevigny, a bit fake-thrift-store-and-stylist-girlfriend, but it makes a Summer Of Insincerity seem like a brilliant idea.</i>

I like the sound of them...wonder how I missed them before...

Telepopmusik are described as making "music to look emaciated in chiffon to"...which sounds good to me. Why are French bands so damn good at electronica?

Say I, who has to answer the above question for my French coursework this term...

Eep!

Music news I am *so* not up on. I missed having NME over Christmas. -->although it appears I'm even less up on music news, 'cause it happened more recently than that. ~sigh~ Wake up, Emily.
Poor Feeder's drummer indeed.

Editor's note : It's the Never Mind The Buzzcocks curse, isn't it? First Stuart Adamson and now Jon Lee...they both sat in the same chair as well...

I think I need a life.

You lost your drummer and your album flopped,
but you have a nice Russian girlfriend who takes
pictures of scary women. Ahh, life is grand.

Seems to be a music evening...

...I was just thinking about an absurd song I saw earlier on SHTV. It's terrible, but that's not why I can't believe it's over here - after all, DJ Otzi and Robbie Williams have hit the top recently.
It's called "Moi Lolita" and it's by Alizée, and it's entirely in French, which *does* surprise me. I can only assume it's popular because the video features a fifteen-year-old French country girl flashing her undergarments at older men in a club.
I know, I know.
But this particular type of music doesn't usually make it across the channel, not least because it's in a foreign language and English people usually don't like to work that hard to understand a song.
What with that and DJ Otzi and the utterly ridiculous (yet strangely compelling - I think it's *his* fault again) Whistle Song by DJ Alligator, The Continent is bringing us some really bad music at the moment.
Must be the Euro...~sigh~

LMFAO Oh John I love you...

Q! from dd.com :

What do you appreciate most in a woman, an intellectual mind or just looks? Adrianna

"Well, everything - an intellectual mind is important and looks are important. Looks are an expression of what's going on inside. I appreciate the same things in a woman as I do in a man really... honesty, sense of humor, intelligence, and a good sense of.... underwear... "

You know what?
I just read through that again and saw that. Yeah. Um. Um. John? ITSISK?

So many bunnies, so little time, so few lettuces...

For once, choir is a blessing.

I need to breathe, I need not to cry, and I need to be coherent so I can sing the words.

Relieved, ecstatic, more relieved, joyful, tearful, delirious, yet more relieved, awed, honoured, shaky, relieved again, grateful, disbelieving, gone.

ROFL

I just went back to another.com, where I have not been for a good four months, and amongst the usual offers of Britney photos and what I've ended up referring to as Trebor movies, I got an e-mail with the subject line :

"HELP! My Husband's Prize Cock Ran Off & Joined the Circus!"

I am really rather amused.

Comments about fighting chickens much appreciated.

Yes, I love e-mail...

...it's convenient for getting in touch with people, it's useful when I want things from home, it works wonders on Y!Groups and so on.
But it's really, really not chosen the best of days to die on me.
Sigh.

I'm so, so, very, very much not thinking about that last statement.
No, not mine.
And anyway, it doesn't matter, because I'm not thinking about it.
